NC MERA – North Carolina Midwifery Education, Regulation, and Association is our state alliance of North Carolina midwives that includes Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) and Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs).
NC MERA (in congruence with US MERA) envisions an integrative health care system where every woman has access to midwives and midwifery care that improves health.
Like US MERA, NC MERA’s mission is to bring together leadership and expertise to identify priorities in our state, and to be a unified, credible, recognized voice for issues that affect midwifery education, certification, accreditation, regulation, association, and practice. The goal is to increase access to high quality and culturally relevant midwifery care for all women through adopting:
